HOW YOU CAN PROGRESS

When you join there are two parallel educational pathways: a communication track, in which you build your presentation skills, and a leadership track, where you can develop your leadership abilities.

Communication track

You will work through the Toastmasters communication manual, which contains 10 great speech projects. For each project you can focus on one set of speaking skills and apply it to your speech (5-7 minutes, any topic you like).

By working through the manual, you will build your skills progressively: the effective use of body language, vocal variety, persuasive speaking etc…

You will receive constructive feedback on your performance from your evaluator and the club members, which you can build on the next time you speak.

Once you have completed the manual, you will receive a certificate (Competent Communicator) and can progress to Advanced manuals, where you can focus on: careers presentations, humorous speeches, story-telling and lots more!

Leadership track

There is a High Performance Leadership program where you work on a leadership project related to your personal or professional life.

You can also gain leadership experience by being a part of the Oxford Speakers Club committee.

THE IMPORTANCE OF SPEAKING EARNESTLY

Great value is placed on the ability to express oneself persuasively and clearly.

Through participating in a Toastmasters club such as ours, you can learn these skills in a safe environment.
